Miss the Mississippi..... And Ghetto Burgers
11-July 2017

Kansas City Mo
We high-balled it (trucker talk good buddy) from OBX to the Midwest as our search is first and foremost comfortable sleeping weather to test out the Gunship's recent upgrades.
It is pretty hot here in KC but our friends have a nice house, functioning air-conditioning, homemade pastries, beer and wine. And bacon.
So you see, Kansas City is pretty much heaven without all the ethereal stuff.
Anyway Its been mostly just driving the last two days. The high point occurred just east of St Louis in an area called East St. Louis.
Good name for such Geography.
We noticed a giant junks/scrap/auto salvage yard off the side of the interstate with an off-ramp conveniently placed for our convenience.
We exited and after negotiating past a few strip clubs (no stopped) we got to the junk yard. It wasn't what we were after so we left it alone. However, on the way in my olfactory senses were captivated by the smell of meat grilling on a hot summer day. Turns out a few folks had set up their own ad hoc establishment to sell burgers, snow cones. Etc.
I had to stop.
Turns out these were no ordinary burgers but were, as described by the sign and proprietress running the joint, Ghetto Burgers!.
This was new to me & needed the experience.
I insisted to my hostess that I, not being from these parts, wanted the full ghetto burger experience.
A few moments later she handed me a large mass of meat on a bun full of sauces, condiments, etc.
To say it was exquisite, would be an understatement.
It was a commitment!
To full on gastronomic delight.
The Junk Yard
The neighborhood.
