Whippin' Floss

Cooke City Montana

I'm gonna buy me a horse, just about this big.
And ride him all along the borderline.

Anyway,
We slept in a hotel last night. It wasn't a great hotel but the proprietor turned out to be a real Montana outdoors guy with tons of "local knowledge".
He hooked us up with some ideas for lesser travelled voyagers and we were off.

Just a few miles out of Red Lodge we found the Lake fork Trail. It was a nice and easy incline trail. We did about 4 miles on it then ate some leftover pizza.  On top of the pizza we ate what remained of our friend Pat's homemade Beef Jerky.
Pat's Jerky deserves its own blog post, and perhaps a shrine.
Good Stuff !

We took the Beartooth Pass over the mountains toward the north side of Yellowstone.
This pass has had some major erosion/avalanche problems over the years.
Local DOT is working on it. Parts of it were pretty  exciting..

We arrived in Cooke City, had a nice lunch and found a good place to park the gunship for the night.
Then we hung out at the visitors center using their wifi till the skeeters started biting.
Which is about right now.
Gotta Go
