Somewhere in the Black Mountains Hills of Dakota.....
16-July 2017

Black Hills
South Dakota
..... Custer State Park.
A truly great State Park with beautiful panoramas, great wildlife and lots of recreation activitiess.
We slept our first night in the Gunship where all the recent CCW (climate control weapons- 2 fans, and a 12 volt battery in a box) systems were put to the first live fire test.
The van not only cooled down quite nicely but did not catch fire during the night. Bonus!.
We survived the night parked outside a regional airport near Custer SD
The next day we lit out for Sylvan Lake inside Custer Park. We hiked the mile long Lake Loop Trail then went down the Sunday Gulch Trail.
Though the Gulch trail was only another 4 miles it turned out to be a real ass-kicker for yours truly.
Living at 9 feet above sea level on fish tacos and Gin and tonics did not prepare me for this.
But we made it out fine.
Then I took a short siesta in the truck.
We camped at Sheridan Lake in the Black Hills National Forest

A bit fuzzy but Carol found these goats high up on the rocks with her binocs. Good Find!
